CoS Audiography: Episode 015: “An Interview with Jeremy Kolosine, part 6″

By Len Comaratta on July 18th, 2011 in CoS Audiography, CoS Exclusive Features

radio audiography 400
In this edition of Audiography, I conclude my conversation with 8-bit musician and chip music and synthpunk pioneer Jeremy Kolosine.

With his band Shakespace, Kolosine found himself remixing many of the band’s tracks for inclusion on their albums. This passion for remixing eventually led him to begin working on his own after the band ended.

Recording under the name Receptors, Kolosine began to experiment and explore the sounds that he could make with 4-bit and 8-bit systems like Ataris and Gameboys. Eventually, he evolved into the 16-bit realm of the Nintendo DS.

Quite the prolific artist over the past decade, Kolosine has recorded in Shakespace, as Receptors, as k-sine, and he is currently working on his first project under his full name. He has toured the world and played with symphonies. He has also found time to produce two 8-bit tribute compilations, one for Kraftwerk and one for the Beatles, about which we go into further detail.

More information is available at Jeremy Kolosine’s website www.receptorsmusic.com.
